If you attended the ICHIM07 Conference Reception, you may remember seeing a giant, green, ear-shaped, metal sign with a mobile phone number and the words “hear you are” stamped on it in the atrium of the MaRS Collaboration Centre in Toronto. [murmur], a documentary oral history project, created the distinct marker.

Jennifer mentioned in her blog entry last week that I'll be helping out with managing Archives & Museum Informatics' 1275+ member on-line community at http://conference.archimuse.com, as part of my position with the company. Well, in case you didn't know, we use Drupal, an amazing open source content management platform, to run this site. However, considering how powerful Drupal is, it is admittedly rather complex to a non-techie Museum Studies grad like myself.

If you are in Toronto for ICHIM07, you might want to check out some fo the events at the International Festival of Authors, running before and after the conference – through October 27, 2007.
With readings from authors from around the world, this event, at Toronto's Harborfront centre is a must for book-lovers. See the full schedule at http://www.readings.org/?q=ifoa/schedule

As you get ready to come to ICHIM07 - the international cultural heritage informatics meeting in Toronto next week, here are a few tips.
When do we start?
What about pre-conference tours?
Any questions?
We're looking forward to seeing you soon.

If you are coming to Toronto for ICHIM07, you might want to stay another day for the Toronto International Art Fair, October 26-29, 2007 at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre (downtown Toronto). The Fair is open to the public from October 26, and is a great opportunity to see a wide variety of contemporary art from dealers around the world (and maybe even acquire something!).
