Semantic Webs - and The Rest of the World
While Ross Parry is facilitating our SW workshop (Friday,
12.30 till 1.30) at MW 2008, the digital museum community in the UK is carrying
on the debate Ross opened up for comment in the session.

Some remarks about the workshop Weaving a Web of Data made me think about the Semantic Web and Wikis. I shared my thoughts here.

The objective of the workshop is to discuss the digitalization,
annotation, archiving, and retrieval of our cultural heritage in all its
forms, and to present, in the form of practical applications, cultural
services available to citizens and professional users. In addition to
textual representations, cultural content can be digitalized and saved
in visual and auditive format. This calls for discussion on intelligent
multimedia indexing and retrieval. Since culture is international in
nature, research, applications, and directions for international
co-operation are a focus area of the workshop.
