
The Ohio Historical Society, located in Columbus, Ohio, seeks an Online Catalog Administrator to manage its integrated library system (SirsiDynix Horizon), which provides access to archival, library and museum collections. Candidates should have a master's degree in library of information science or a closely related field, plus three or more years of professional-level information systems experience in an archives, library, museum or corporate environment. Equally important are strong communication skills, organizational ability and willingness to embrace innovation and change.

The Digital Conversion Production Manager oversees the Digital Conversion Unit (DCU) within the Digital Library Production Service (DLPS). The DCU is responsible for digital conversion of library collections, working with monograph, serial, newspaper, photograph, and manuscript collections. The DCU converts on average 5,000 volumes per year, and is committed to high-volume, efficient digitization.

they built on the success of their Turning the Pages applications, that let you page through treasures from the BL (presented in Shockwave) each of which was is separately created and individually animated. they partnered with microsoft to demonstrate vista, and created Turning the Pages 2.0 that takes advantage of its 3D capabilities. it includes animations of 'book dynamics' [turning pages] based on curators actually turning the pages, so the pages wrinkle and curl. a light source reflects off the gold leaf. browsing is enhanced by navigation, englargement, transcription, and comparison of multiple volumes in the same workspace (with relative size). functionality was defined in conjunction with curators (based on tasks like comparing multiple editions, sketches and published works...)

The Office of Strategic Initiatives at The Library of Congress has embarked upon a major digital library initiative, part of which involves the design and development of digital repository systems. These systems will support acquisition, preservation and access for a large number of digital collections spanning a wide variety of content types and formats. Successful candidates will have extensive experience managing information technology projects. Working knowledge of digital library technologies and experience in digital library projects will be regarded very positively. Successful candidates will work as members of a team to design, develop, document and support new or existing software systems within a repository development program.
