Flickr, Youtube...what's next

Hi,

First of all, I'd like to say I enjoyed the conference. And after a
major jetlag (we came from the Netherlands) the following question
started spinning in my head. Engaging your visitors to your collections
/ museum / archive etc and seducing them to be prosumers is nowadays
done with flickr, youtube and secondlife. What do you think is the next
big thing?

the future of the backchannel?

There was quite a timely piece in C|net today about backchannels at tech-related conferences. See "How to survive the next-gen confab . It comes at a time when we're close to wrapping together a set of on-line venues for MW2008.

This will be the third year we've had an on-line space for MW while it was taking place, and afterwards. it seems that this might be the year that it takes off a bit more. If you're out and about on the Web, check out the following

ICHIM07 photos on flickr

ichim demo sessions

I've posted my ICHIM07 photographs on flickr, and updated the right menu bar on conference.archimuse.com to pull only photographs with the ICHIM07 tag.
Did you take pictures at ICHIM07 in Toronto? If so, please:

--> make sure you post them with that ICHIM07 tag, and
--> add them to our flickr group.

Thanks!

ICHIM pictures now

since it's ICHIM07 this week, i've changed the pictures in the right column to be those with an ICHIM tag on flickr.

we can limit this to ICHIM07 when there are a few more in that pool.

yes! new mw2007 photos

Jon Pratty's posted some new photographs of Museums and the Web 2007 in our MW2007 flickr group. it's nice to know that i'm not the only one who takes a while to get my pictures organized -- and to see some changes in the images in the right nav bar of this site. no matter how random flickr says it is, it definitely favours some images over others (or seems to start in the same place). maybe there's a setting i've missed?

thanks Jon!

Map of Museums in Libya Thanks to Web2.0 Tools

Map of Museums in Libya

These last days we have been very busy trying to find information about museums in Libya. At the end, and thanks to web2.0 tools such as Flickr, we have ellaborate a map of museums in that country.

Unfortunately, the International Council of African Museums (AFRICOM) is not including information about Libyan Museums in its website. However, they are wonderful institutions which specifically need of more visibility to be recongnized as they should be in the international landscape. That is the reason why we have elaborated this map which gathers and places all museums we are aware of.

Thanks to Web2.0 tools it is our pleasure to share this map of Libyan Museums with all of you. You can find more information in our blog e-artcasting and in e-artcasting Photoproject, where you can also add your comments as well as tags to the image.
