Why: The site was restructured, redesigned and rebuilt around user-centered design principles, with navigation and structure based around audiences and their needs on a page-by-page basis, so that the full range of the museum's activities could be exposed to users in a relevant and contextual manner. Additionally a hierarchically-tiered design framework was adopted so that different areas of the site could adopt a highly individual design appropriate to audience and purpose, while remaining within a consistent overall framework (eg http://www.sciencemuseum.org.uk/onlinestuff/snot/do_rabbits_fart.aspx).
