Pre-qualification for Invitation to Tender for Software Supply

Interested companies are invited to submit pre-qualification documentation for
designing, developing  and implementing the Yousef Jameel Online Centre for the
Study of Islamic & Eastern Art

The closing date for submitting pre-qualification documents is 12.00 noon Friday

Background

Thanks to the generosity of Yousef Jameel, Hon. LHD, the Ashmolean Museum has
been running a  project to digitise the Museum's Islamic and Eastern Art
collections and to present these online as an  educational resource accessible
to all. The resulting resource will be known as the Yousef Jameel  Online
Centre for the Study of Islamic and Eastern Art.

The project began in July 2007 when the digitisation programme for the Centre
started. To date over  7,000 objects have been photographed.

Software Supplier

The Museum now wishes to appoint a Software Supplier to develop the Yousef
Jameel Online Centre for  the Study of Islamic and Eastern Art website and the
underlying content management system.

Tender Process

The appointment of a Software Supplier for developing the Yousef Jameel Online
Centre for the Study  of Islamic and Eastern Art will be by selective
competitive tendering and the short-listing of suitable  suppliers to invite to
tender will be based on responses to the pre-qualification document.

Selection Criteria

Selection for inclusion on the final list of Software Suppliers for the Yousef
Jameel Online Centre for the  Study of Islamic and Eastern Art will be on the
basis of your submission and the following criteria:

  •  Track record
  •  Relevant experience
  •  Proposed team and experience of key members of your team
  •  Approach to project
  •  Possible start date

Tender timetable

Following receipt of pre-qualification documents, the Museum will evaluate the
responses and create a  short list of up to 6 suppliers.

The short listed suppliers will be invited to tender for the Yousef Jameel
Online Centre for the Study of  Islamic and Eastern Art software contract. It
is expected that the full invitation to tender will be sent out  on Wednesday
28th January 2009, with responses due 12.00 noon Monday 16th February 2009.

Supplier interviews are planned to take place between 25th-26th February 2009,
with the selection of a  preferred supplier shortly afterwards. The Museum
anticipates awarding the Yousef Jameel Online  Centre for the Study of Islamic
and Eastern Art software contract by Wednesday 4th March 2009.
