Position Summary:
I.M.O.W. seeks an experienced, innovative and team-oriented media professional to serve as Manager of Online Exhibitions. The Manager of Online Exhibitions leads the development and implementation of I.M.O.W.’s media-rich global online exhibitions and community, serving as primary contact for internal and external parties for content development, and administrative and related design and technology matters. Creates and executes project proposals, specifications, and budgets; develops and manages multiple concurrent project plans; helps to shape and define the experience of the visitor; meets the interpretive goals of the project; and ensures quality and consistency across projects. The Manager of Online Exhibitions manages the exhibitions team, works closely with I.M.O.W. staff and independent curators, and reports to the Vice President, Exhibitions and Programs.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the overall design, specifications, creation, implementation, quality assurance and maintenance of I.M.O.W.’s multilingual online exhibitions and global community. Oversees web standards, design and usability.
  • Manages content creation for online exhibitions. Ensures online and editorial standards and consistent creative direction of exhibitions working with curators and exhibitions team. This includes point of view, editorial tone and voice, design personality for text, images, and multimedia content. As senior editor, leads exhibition writing and editing and provides final review and edit for all content.
  • Develops project schedules and expense projections and manages day-to-day timelines, deliverables and budgets. Ensures the production of exhibition content is on time and within budget.
  • Manages the online exhibitions team, intern program, and consultant and vendor relationships as they relate to online exhibition development, including the work of image acquisition consultant, freelance writers/editors, web development and design firms, video and production freelancers.
  • Manages process for research, solicitation, collection, editing and uploading high quality multi-media exhibition content. Oversees and coordinates review and selection process for exhibition materials.
  • Coordinates contributions of various departments to online exhibitions (curatorial, editorial, partnership, sponsorship, development, events, product, marketing and public relations).
  • Works with marketing to develop online exhibition communications strategy and to support content needs for marketing and public relations.
  • Works with development team to provide content needs for fundraising and grant proposals.
  • Define measurements for success.
  • Communicates with exhibition advisory committee and organizational partners, as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related area of study, and 5 years in educational media production or related field is required.
  • Strong team management skills including solid experience developing and managing staff, budgets, project timelines and deliverables.
  • Excellent communication, collaborative and organizational abilities.
  • Solid experience in web development, web marketing and editorial techniques, including new social marketing tools, creative promotional talent and sophisticated design sensibility.
  • Knowledge of best practices and new developments in multimedia technology.
  • Solid understanding of content development and editorial processes as they relate to media projects, and experience producing popular content for online audiences.
  • Excellent writing and copy editing skills. Editing/publishing/curatorial experience desirable.
  • Technical expertise with media editing tools and software is desirable.
  • Interest in policy issues affecting women globally and familiarity with international authors, artists and filmmakers is desirable.
  • Multilingual skills are desirable.
