The Imperial War Museum is hiring!

The Imperial War Museum is undertaking a major project to procure and implement a collections management system, comprising collections, library nd archive elements. This is coupled with a project to implement an ntegrated digital asset management system.

The project will ensure that the Museum can centralise collections information from its eight collecting departments, covering the widest
range of media.

The museum is now looking to recruit the following additional staff for this project:


JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Title: Digital Collections Officer
Department: Collections Management (DCM)
Responsible to: Documentation Manager
Salary Range: £26,600 to £30,100
Duration To end of June 2009
Purpose of the Job
The post holder will be the first point of contact for users of the Digital Asset Management System (DAMS), making decisions concerning the appropriate support mechanism for the resolution of system issues. The DCO will act as a solver Unit on the ICT Help Desk, working closely with ICT to ensure issues are dealt with by the appropriate party. The DCO will also liaise with the ICT department concerning the networked environment of the collections management systems and will document and maintain a knowledge and awareness of the network aspects of the Collections Cataloguing and Management System (CCMS) and Library Management System (LMS) through liaison with the Collections Systems Officer. All these systems will be based on Microsoft SQL Server. The post holder will work closely with the relevant supplier to ensure that any and all of these systems work together in an integrated manner.

Management System (CCMS) and Library Management System (LMS), making decisions concerning the appropriate support mechanism for the resolution of system issues. The Collections Systems Officer will act as a solver Unit on the ICT Help Desk, working closely with ICT to ensure issues are dealt with by the appropriate party. The Collections System Officer will also liaise with the ICT department concerning the environmental aspects of the collections management systems and will maintain a knowledge and awareness of the environmental aspects of the Digital Asset Management System (DAMS) through liaison with the Digital Collections Officer. Both the CCMS and LMS will be based on Microsoft SQL Server. The post holder will work closely with the supplier (Adlib) to ensure that any and all of these systems work together in an integrated manner.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title: Data Standards Assistants x 2
Department: Collections Management
Responsible to: Documentation Manager
Salary: £18,986 to £21,984
Duration: To end of June 2009

Purpose of the Job
The Data Standards Assistant will be responsible for cleaning and inputting collections data as part of the Museum’s project to migrate to a new collections management system. The postholder will work as part of the project team, working across the datasets to ensure users have access to clean, consistent and accurate collections information.

Starting salary for all the above posts is normally at the minimum of the range depending on experience. Salary increases are in line with the Museum’s Performance Pay Scheme.
