
Knowledge Manager
The American Association of Museums seeks leadership for the Information Center, a core membership benefit that helps individual & institutional members achieve excellence, solve problems and make informed decisions. This position creates and maintains Association-wide systems for information collection, evaluation, organization, and dissemination. Responsibilities include managing 400 pages of web content on museum operations, professional standards & best practices, and emerging issues; providing reference services to member museums (with questions such as non-profit tax issues, ethics, governance, and collections stewardship); and active participation in the continual improvement of Member Services programs and services.
Ideal candidate will have a graduate degree in museum studies or related field; a minimum 5 years of museum experience (a leadership role strongly preferred); a solid understanding of current museum ethics, operations, standards & best practices; proven management experience; experience with or ability to learn knowledge management systems; the ability to analyze complex issues; strong Web research skills; excellent writing skills; and a very high commitment to customer service. Salary is mid $50s.
Web Manager
The American Association of Museums (AAM) seeks a Web Manager who has experience managing multiple projects in a fast paced environment and can effectively coordinate the work of staff website liaisons, contractors and vendors, as well as AAM content authors.
Responsibilities include managing the day-to-day operations necessary to support AAM’s web plans; including management of AAM’s servers, Content Management System (CMS), statistics package, web applications, e-commerce tools, external web tools, and other web-related items, as well as responding to internal and external customer service requests. The Web Manager will be responsible for managing website updates, content review and error corrections as well as communicating with staff about web standards and training key staff on procedures for making website updates.
Ideal candidate will have a minimum of a Bachelor's degree and at least 5 years in website implementation field; experience working with a content management system (CMS) - CommonSpot preferred; expertise with ColdFusion and HTML; demonstrable knowledge of information architecture, usability and web writing techniques, preferably in a non-profit or association. Excellent organization, analytical and communication skills are a must. Knowledge and experience with SQL and iMIS software systems is extremely helpful. An interest in the museum field is also a plus. Salary is mid $40’s.
