"The purpose of the New Media Technology Specialist is to assure the overall quality of "new and emerging media" products created for the National Park Service, and for identifying, researching and evaluating new media technologies that could be utilized in support of NPS goals for interpretation, education and outreach. "New media" may include both hardware and software tools such as Web applications, streaming videos, interactive multimedia programs, cell phone technology, mobile GPS technology, self-guided audio tours, pod casting, Web casting, online social networking, blogging, digital signage, and other new and emerging digital media technologies. "
