This paper presents the CIh4I Standards ~ramework~ as a context for a landscape view of the issues and standards relevant to the interchange of multimedia and as a focus of community effort for further development. In doing this it assumes that museums are at the beginning of the consensus building process on the adoption of standards which includes, identifying the range of applicable standards; determining those with relevance, and establishing methodologies for their successful implementation.
