| Abstract | As the lines of distinction among systems of information management in cultural heritage institutions meld and integrate, so must the professional preparation of archivists, curators, librarians and other keepers of cultural phenomenological documentation and information. This white paper investigates the change in the vision and mission, as well as the physical and administrative infrastructure of cultural heritage institutions and how this change is mandating a new understanding of what is needed in emerging cultural heritage information management professionals. A look at how one academic program in library and information science at a university is addressing this need through research into and the subsequent creation of a program emphasis on Cultural Heritage Information Management Education (CHIME) is presented in this paper. | |
