From the late 1980’s, the BnF has been integrating digitization as a resource, a means to preservation and for valorization. However it has only been 4 to 5 years that the significant quantity of digital data linked to ambitious projects ( web copyright registration) and by the transfer from that of silver to that of the digital as a increasing means of preservation that has obliged a reconsideration of the strategy and to set up again the growing medium so that the entire fundamental mission of a national library in terms of collection, treatment, access and conservation adapts in coherence with the more traditional activities.
