| Abstract | Using the Web to create a unique museum experience. Robert Futernick, Chief Conservator at the Achenbach Foundation of the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco, created an art imagebase of more than 60,000 digital reproductions of works from the collection. Initially developed as a collection management project, the searchable database is now available on the museum's Web site, "The Thinker". Through the website, visitors and scholars are encouraged to become their own curator by following their own interests through the collection, or by setting up appointments to view specific works. | |
