Abstract  Papers presented at the the First International Conference on Museums and the Web, held in Los Angeles in March 1997, featured a wide range of reports on ways in which museums were using and being changed by using the World Wide Web. The thirty-two papers in this volume address challenges facing both the cultural heritage community and the technology as the missions of museums intersect with the opportunities of the Internet. They examine the political and economic aspects of culture on the Web, the future of museums and of collections, the challenges of managing and integrating Web technology and issues in creating and using Web resources. The Proceedings include all papers presented. Introduction on-line. Table of Contents on-line.
