Innovate is an open access, bimonthly, peer-reviewed online periodical (ISSN 1552-3233) published by the Fischler School of Education and Human Services at Nova Southeastern University. The journal focuses on the creative use of information technology (IT) to enhance educational processes in academic, commercial, and governmental settings. Our basic assumption is that innovative uses of technology in one sector can inform innovative uses of technology in each of the other sectors.

We welcome submissions from a wide community of practitioners—from professors, teachers, trainers, and support specialists to program administrators, software designers, and leaders in the information technology industry. Articles generally fall into one of the following categories:

Applied Research and Advanced Practice: Description of a technological innovation and its implementation, even in pilot form, and the provision of evidence that lends credence to its practicality and value. The topic may be large in scale (e.g., a technology tool tested at 10 institutions) or more limited in scope (e.g., a technology tool employed in a science class or in a corporate training program). Example: "Effective Technology Integration in Teacher Education: A Comparative Study of Six Programs."

Development: Information on the newest IT educational projects, programs, tools, and trends. Example: "Web Publishing for the Individual, Not the Enterprise."

Commentary: Critical reflections on the changing nature of teaching, learning, and training with IT in the 21st century. Example: "Experiencing Knowledge."

Ideas to Watch: Concept descriptions that point to important new directions for research, product, and process development. Example: "Video Game Studies and the Emerging Instructional Revolution."

From Our Sponsors: Articles that describe (1) how educators use our sponsors’ products to enhance teaching, learning, and administration; (2) how the services our sponsors have provided or intend to provide enhance educational effectiveness; and (3) how sponsors view the future of education and the role information technology tools will play in that future in order to address educational problems and issues.
